Resources Available via UCSD Subscriptions

Mobile Micromedex
Create an account, download the software. You do not need to provide UCSD's customer number.

Popular/Recommended Individual Sites:
These are some individual products that have either been recommended or look useful. Some are not free. Please let us know your favorites:

> ePocrates
Rx is one of the most popular drug databases around - fast info on indications, dosing and mechanism of action, with room for your own notes. Rx is free but only for the basic PalmOS version for PC users. PocketPC and Mac users would need to pay for the RxPro version. We recommend trying UCSD's Mobile Micromedex before paying out of pocket for drug information.

> HandHeldMed: Mobile Content
Keep up with any of about 20 different medical journals. Handheldmed makes the table of contents and abstracts available via AvantGo.

> JournaltoGo
Clinical abstracts and healthcare news from journals in MEDLINE, updated weekly. Search "channels" are pre-programmed for clinical topics - you can't put in your own specific search.

> Kaplan Medical: "to go" series
Palm versions of Kaplan's USMLE study tools - so far the site includes Anatomy, excerpts from the Qbank series, and PharmDeck. Anatomy is $15, and the PharmDeck and Qbank questions are free after registering with Kaplan.

> MedCalc
An "awesome" collection of medical equations.

> MedLabRef
Normal values for 160 medical lab test ranges. Be sure to follow installation instructions carefully - this works with your Memo application so is not installed the same way as other independent applications or documents. $10 shareware.
An alternative is the Lab Values folio written for the TealInfo program.

> MedMath
Another medical calculator.

> MedRevu
"The popular Recall Series books are now available for your PDA." These are board review question books, offered on a subscription basis.

> MedScape Mobile
MedScape is a big medical portal site with some mobile/PDA content. Makes the Tarascon e-Pharmacopoeia available free ($7.95 direct from the Tarascon company) along with an article reader and journal-watch type content for which their own reader is needed. All free for now but you have to register with MedScape first.

> Nephro-To-Go
"Highly recommended by Dr. O'Connor for general renal knowledge and all the equations you could possibly need. It takes only 211KB and is well worth the space" (CR)

> PatientKeeper
> PatientTracker
Patient tracking software - may be complex to learn.
